TDCX Corporate Social Responsibility Updates Q2 2021

Q2 of 2021 has been another busy month for our TDCX CSR initiatives around our 3 pillars. We launched many new projects aiming to empower people, uplift communities, and promote sustainability.

In terms of global coordination, we began identifying CSR projects that have the best feasibility of being rolled out around the world and have the potential to create a greater impact on our people, communities, and environment. We have painstakingly picked these initiatives from our CSR roadmap for 2021 and worked hard and accordingly with our partner organisations in different countries to ensure we achieve our target goals.

By unifying key efforts and investing in more social-facing programs, we are happy to report that our numbers from April to June have produced satisfactory results and exceeded that of the previous quarter.

Nurturing a happier, inclusive workplace

TDCX is a place where everyone can thrive and #BeHappier. We are big advocates of an inclusive workplace where people feel safe and accepted. And in the past three months, we took every chance we can get to celebrate our people’s unique and diverse backgrounds. In Q2, our local teams around the world came together to celebrate Pride Month and empower TDpeeps that are proud members of the LGBTQ community, from organising virtual events, producing videos to running a month-long online campaign. By amplifying their voices and presence in the company, we at TDCX stand firm as LGBTQ allies. It is one of our goals to encourage members to embrace their individuality and raise awareness and compassion among non-members.

In April, our TDpeeps over at Thailand set up a hybrid event to mark the Songkran Festival, the country’s most famous festival and traditional New Year’s Day. Combining live and virtual events to engage employees working at the office and from home, our employees enjoyed a big celebration filled with games, booths, art sessions, costume contests, and prize draws. In the same month, TDCX Singapore and Thailand orchestrated a joint celebration of Hari Raya to show solidarity with our Muslim community and to help raise funds for a Singapore-based orphanage for children. And in the Philippines, we made a deeper commitment to nurturing our people’s passion with the rollout of various special interest clubs.

With workplace wellness being one of our CSR core areas, TDCX also puts a premium on employees’ health and wellbeing. In Malaysia, we gifted 3,300 yoga balls to our employees during the Staff Appreciation Day, while opposite the globe, in Colombia, our TDpeeps enjoyed a variety of office-based activities such as a free-fruit program, Father’s Day celebration, and team building activities.

Supporting medical frontliners & local communities

The pandemic has exacerbated the situation in many areas worldwide but, in the face of a global crisis, we remain steadfast in our commitment to #BeKinder, and our compassion towards other people does not waiver. In the world’s battle with COVID-19, we continue to stand behind our medical frontliners through the 4F or Friday Food for Frontliners Program, a global initiative striving to donate food meals to support them. Our most recent implementation of this project took place in Colombia and the Philippines where hundreds of food meals were donated to hospitals. Meanwhile, TDCX Spain made over a thousand-dollar donation to gift frontliners of a local hospital in Barcelona with jackets they can use on or off duty.

In Singapore, we remain as active as ever by working with several NGO partners. Our TDpeeps donated their time anew to Willing Hearts Foundation, a soup kitchen that provides daily free meals to over 9,000 beneficiaries; conducted a quarterly in-kind donation drive in partnership with Singapore Red Cross; started an online fundraising program for an orphanage and; raised another charity event for VIVA Foundation for Children with Cancer.

Likewise enabled by different partner NGOs, we continue our long tradition of providing food aid to under-resourced communities in the Philippines. We handed first aid kits and grocery supplies to families in need; we implemented food rescue programs in Manila and different cities and municipalities in Cebu; we donated food items to support “mobile or community pantries” in the Philippines, which allows locals to take as much food supply as they need and give whatever they can – a countrywide phenomenon that sparked from the spirit of compassion and helping others.

Our TDpeeps in Japan and Malaysia did the same – acting in unison to support other people in times of crisis. In partnership with Japan Emergency Food Organization, our TDpeeps gave boxes of safe drinking water to supply households affected by the pandemic. In Thailand, they set up a donation drive for Ban Bang Khae Social Welfare Development Centre for Older Persons for the National Elderly Day.

In China, we conducted a two-pronged project where employees donated books for children, while others were to be recycled and repurposed into educational items such as pens and notebooks. Finally, our local team in Malaysia put together a special Responsible Leadership Program – a goodwill mentoring program for 80 students from INTI College Penang, Subang, and Nilai.

Working towards carbon neutrality

Aligned with our goal to be a climate-neutral BPO company within the decade, we are proud to have done our biggest undertaking to date to help preserve our planet – offsetting 38,770 tonnes of CO2 by investing in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects supported by the United Nations. These CDM projects replace the use of fossil fuels, the biggest contributor of carbon emission, with renewable energy sources like wind, hydroelectric, solar, and biomass. TDCX’s involvement in these projects will contribute to the reduction of CO2 on the planet and help generate employment opportunities during the construction and operational phases.

On a local level, our teams allowed green initiatives from the previous quarter to run on. In Thailand, we continued our Save the World Tree Planting Campaign, and, in the Philippines, we did a second run for #BeGreener Talk: Reducing Your Carbon Footprint at Home. Our TDpeeps in Malaysia also enjoyed conducting their tree planting activity, while TDCX Philippines worked with their partner Masungi Georeserve to plant trees on their behalf.


Our programs are anchored on our three CSR pillars: #BeHappier, #BeKinder, and #BeGreener.
